engage in a fighting game has always been a complicated affair, especially when they appeared in various combos and subtleties in the gameplay. BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger was certainly not an example of accessibility - is still defined as one of the peaks of the hardcore fighting game - but the new Continuum Shift seems to want to remedy. Beyond excessive rules for beginners - which gives the front buttons of the main combo - the new Training Mode become an obligatory step for two reasons. First serves as a manual to understand all the mechanics that govern the game (between attacks, cancel, counter moves and so on) and mainly teaches step by step strategies, strengths and weaknesses of each character. An idea so simple that we see for the first time implemented in a meaningful way that actually improves their ability a fighter.

The lessons are broken down by level of difficulty and provide a textual explanation followed by a practice session, where the only jarring notes are the 'absence of a display of key presses (which would facilitate further learning) and using the original nomenclature of the keys that does not match that of the pad. Playing BlazBlue no longer a pastime for the privileged few, as all fans of fighting games in the encounters can forge their own fighting style relying on a workout that gives good results soon. This does not mean that BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is a simple fighting game or casual gamer, but simply that with commitment and perseverance you have a good chance of becoming competitive in less time than ever before. There is therefore no excuse not to try BlazBlue, even if you do not chew beat 'em for breakfast.

The title of Arc System Works is still a game sheet for the hardcore of the genre. This version is the only flaw to offer only a trio of characters in addition to its predecessor - Tsubaki Yayoi, Mu-12 and Hazam Koryaku, while Makoto is available on Xbox Live, unfortunately, for a fee - but as for game content we are still on high levels. BlazBlue prefers the quality and diversity to meet the new entry in the middle of this philosophy, with a unique fighting style and drive new moves that make them a pleasant diversion from the classic and Ragna Hakumen.

As for game mechanics, several adjustments were made to balance the characters, changed the working of the Guard - which is now operated with dots - and find space for new fighting moves even more intriguing . From the PlayStation Portable version arrives mode Legion - through which add to as you conquer the enemy positions - while the story mode has been enhanced new background that season immediately following the events as narrated in Calamity Trigger. Also interesting is the Challenge mode, a kind of difficult survival where you must meet certain conditions to proceed.

The Xbox 360 pad is not ideal for handling commands to one thousandth of a second, so it is recommended an arcade stick if you want to be very competitive in the match online. E 'out of only a few days in Europe, but Continuum Shift has been available overseas for months: the opponents at the time of the review are not many and those who are there because they know their own. Fortunately, you can record and replay online play frame by frame in order to study the techniques of other players. Balancing work done by Arc System Works has brought to diginità characters like Bang, now much more competitive, and reduced the power of others (including Jin Kisaragi and his ice attacks). To participate in ranked matches is available for the patch version 1.01, which bodes well for constant updates aimed at improvement of the experience.

Explosive gameplay but also in graphic design, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift shines in its colorful 2D high-definition entertainment, sporting well-connected to each other together with 3D effects of impact. As usual, the action is punctuated by hard rock music, with the possibility to choose both the Japanese and the English dubbing. Ultimately BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is highly recommended to all lovers of fighting in meetings, especially if you miss the first episode is done.

Pros: new game modes, more accessible for beginners, improved balance, refined combat system, technically excellent
Replay Value: better. The online mode does not miss a beat
Cons: only 3 new characters
In Summary: BlazBlue: Continuum Shift improves where possible, the predecessor is confirmed as the best 2D fighter out there. The lack of additional characters may be a bit 'close to the owners of Calamity Trigger, but the variety is there.
