Back in da dayz

Of all the abandoned prematurely console, Dreamcast is surely that enlists the most passionate fans, whose memoirs describe hours spent in the company of securities that, unfortunately, have been underestimated by most. The hope that they can relive those days again last long with Dreamcast Collection, mainly because of how the selection of titles was packed. No extras of any kind nor a "remastering" worthy of the name, this collection seems more an excuse to put on the shelf of titles already available on Xbox Live Arcade. The main menu itself suggests the lack of love placed in the compilation, so much so that it is necessary to change the game back to the dashboard. Moreover, the choice to include only four titles - Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, Space Channel 5 Part 2 and Sega Bass Fishing - setting aside the true superstars of the era Dreamcast (one for all, Shenmue) makes this compilation a job only half successful.

Sonic Adventure is one of all the work he has received the worst adaptation. As they used a "copy and paste the original version, is the only one not to have enjoyed the upgrade to 16:9 and the one that suffers the most of his years, with the camera and bizarre problems (very) bad clipping. Nothing has been done to make masterpiece of the then Sonic Team a title which still proud of: even the mid-level boots are still intact, not a sign of respect for the original work. It 's a real shame, because with a few substantive measures, Sonic Adventure was to become the best 3D Sonic ever, thanks to a memorable level design and engaging content to the amount of excellent supporting actors and characters that do not steal the limelight from porcupine blue. It is worthwhile in the adventure of repulsed, aware that from time to time nostalgia might turn into disappointment.

Even Crazy Taxi has not had a better fate, and the music license from The Offspring and Bad Religion replaced with rhythmic rock songs but decidedly less well chosen. Despite the problems of clipping, making the taxi driver on the streets of a San Francisco-like thanks to the gameplay is still fun at the same time immediate and nuanced to do drifting, rocketing and so on. Of course there are the Crazy Box mini-games and different game modes to lengthen the life time in Crazy Taxi, although it remains an apex of Arcadia: fast but short-lived.

Collection Rounding out the two new songs - at least for now - on Xbox Live Arcade: Space Channel 5 Part 2 and Sega Bass Fishing. Except for movies rather pixelated, the first held up very well the weight of years thanks to the exceptional gameplay and catchy soundtrack 70s. In the role of space reporter Ulala, you must prevent the threat of Rhythm Rogue repeating the moves in time as a modern Simon. It is not as refined as other rhythm 'game on the market - the speech that indicates which key to press is not always clear - but the simple game mechanics combined with the presence of characters as sidekicks Space Michael makes a title with a charm all its own.

Sega Bass Fishing is instead the weaker of the collection, either by the absence of the reel that had a distinct decade ago, want to game mechanics that too basic, along with the ability to continue indefinitely, virtually eliminates any sense of challenge. Has not even been introduced to provide feedback on the vibration behavior of the fish, making fishing sessions a deal not very stimulating. The Dreamcast Collection ends here, because as mentioned, there are no extras to tickle the throat of the fans and giving further justification for the purchase of a collection which has several shortcomings and that offers little satisfaction. Sega claims the love of the faithful, but the first to offer it is not her own.

Pros: Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi are the best, low price
Replay Value: discreet. Sonic Adventure deserves to be played to the end, Crazy Taxi is adrenaline
Cons: questionable selection of titles, no extra, bundled with little care; mediocre adaptation of Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi is not original music
In Summary: more than a collection, is a handful of titles ready to gather together just a bit 'of money by fans, leaving them with a package at historic lows. Recommended only to those who did not want to connect the Dreamcast to the TV
